Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir met Friday 3/7/2026 Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and advancing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in transport, logistics, and international corridors. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Fifth Turkey Maritime Summit in Istanbul.
During the meeting, el Wazir conveyed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's greetings to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish people. Kamel el Wazir also congratulated Türkiye on the successful organization of the summit's fifth edition, praising its excellent organization and broad international participation, which he said reflected the country's growing stature in the maritime transport sector.
The minister said Egyptian-Turkish relations are witnessing rapid progress, driven by the shared political will of the two countries' leaderships, opening new prospects for economic and investment cooperation, particularly in transport and logistics, in a way that serves the mutual interests of both peoples.
Kamel el Wazir noted that cooperation between Egypt and Turkey has entered a new and more effective phase, particularly following the signing of a cooperation agreement on international corridors and logistics services. Kamel el Wazir described the agreement as a strategic step toward enhancing connectivity between the two countries, increasing trade flows, integrating supply chains, and capitalizing on the strategic geographic positions of Egypt and Türkiye as key regional and global trade hubs.
For his part, Yılmaz conveyed President Erdoğan's greetings to President El Sisi and expressed appreciation for the participation of the Egyptian delegation in the summit. Kamel el Wazir reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to expanding cooperation with Egypt across various sectors, particularly transport and logistics, in a manner that serves the interests of both countries, supports sustainable development, and strengthens their roles as regional hubs for trade and transport.
