Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk Saturday, June 06, 2026, discussed with Saudi Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Osama Faqeeha ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture, food security, and environmental protection.

Farouk underscored the depth of the historic and fraternal ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, stressing the importance of continued coordination and joint efforts to achieve agricultural and environmental integration in support of sustainable development plans in both countries.

During the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Head of the Agricultural Research Center and Supervisor of Foreign Agricultural Relations Saad Moussa, both sides emphasized the importance of unifying and coordinating Egyptian and Saudi stances at international forums, particularly regarding the implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two countries and the Arab region.

The two officials highlighted the importance of establishing a permanent joint technical committee between the agriculture ministries of both countries to ensure continuous follow-up on all areas of cooperation. The committee would also be tasked with preparing and coordinating participation in the Conference of the Parties to the Convention to Combat Desertification, scheduled to be held in Mongolia later in 2026.

They further stressed the importance of continuing convening of the joint coordination committee, chaired by the agriculture ministers of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, to monitor developments and coordinate efforts on issues related to the agricultural sector, contributing to greater integration and enhanced food security in both countries.

Farouk extended an invitation to Saudi officials, technical experts, and investors to conduct field visits to Egyptian facilities and farms dedicated to export production, including crops and poultry operations, to observe firsthand the application of the highest standards of quality and biosecurity.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening mutual investments in various agricultural activities between the two sisterly nations. The Minister stressed the importance of expanding joint agricultural investments in Africa, given the continent’s vast arable land resources and abundant water availability.
