“The New Delta project represents a transformative milestone in the state's agricultural and economic development,” said officials of the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development on Saturday, July 4, 2026. They stressed that the project goes beyond land reclamation to serve as a comprehensive national project for establishing a new integrated community.
The project aims to add 2.2 million feddans to Egypt's cultivated land, strengthening food security and transforming the area into one of the largest production and investment platforms in the Middle East, the officials said. Director of the Engineering Department at the Future of Egypt Authority Essam Wali, in statements to Extra News channel, said that the New Delta Project is not merely an agricultural initiative, but a comprehensive agricultural development project and a new community built on a smart management system that efficiently operates all its facilities.
He stressed that the project's primary objective is to achieve food security for the Egyptians. Wali explained that the project relies on an advanced water resources management system, led by the Nabaa Pumping Station at the eastern source, which serves as the first water-lifting station.
It supplies 13 additional main pumping stations to ensure the efficient delivery of water to all reclaimed lands, Wali said, adding that the station is equipped with the latest protection and operating systems. The project also utilizes the smart SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, which enables real-time monitoring of station operations and immediate response to any malfunctions or emergencies, ensuring sustainable operations and efficient irrigation management.
Meanwhile, Director of the Agricultural Department at the authority Shaheen Hamed said the project was implemented in coordination with the Ministries of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and Water Resources and Irrigation following extensive studies and detailed soil analyses to identify the most suitable land capable of achieving the highest production rates.
For his part, Director of the Investment Department at the authority Mohamed Abu El Gheit said the project's investment vision seeks to transform the New Delta into one of the region's largest production and investment platforms, through the establishment of an integrated system encompassing agricultural production, food manufacturing and logistics services, thereby maximizing the added value of agricultural products.
