Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid discussed on Monday, August 31, 2026, with Chairman of Oman's Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef ways to enhance investment and trade cooperation and advance integration between economic and free zones in both countries, in the presence of Omani Ambassador to Egypt Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi and officials from both sides.
The ministry stated that discussions addressed expanding cooperation in pharmaceuticals, food processing, textiles and garments, renewable energy, logistics, manufacturing, and marble industries. Farid emphasized the importance of advancing bilateral economic relations toward deeper integration through industrial and investment partnerships leveraging comparative advantages, noting efforts to establish an executive plan to turn opportunities into concrete ventures.
Both sides explored proposals enabling Egyptian companies to utilize Omani free and economic zones for intermediate manufacturing and re-exporting to Asian markets, while leveraging Egypt's industrial and logistics capabilities to access other regional markets.
Both sides agreed to identify priority sectors and companies, outline an executive cooperation program, activate joint promotional mechanisms, and organize bilateral business events.
