Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom on Thursday, June 4, 2026, discussed with French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial, Energy and Digital Sovereignty Roland Lescure ways to strengthen economic relations between the two countries and explore future areas of cooperation, within the framework of their development partnership.

The meeting falls within the framework of continued progress in Egyptian-French economic and development relations, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting took place during a series of intensive engagements held by the Egyptian minister with senior European officials on the sidelines of the second day of the Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), currently taking place in the French capital, Paris.

During the meeting, Rostom affirmed the Egyptian government's appreciation for the development partnership between Egypt and France, which has expanded over the past years to encompass additional areas of cooperation that serve the development priorities of both countries.

The partnership has evolved into a long-term development framework, reflecting the strong and historic relations between Egypt and the European Union member states, Rostom said. The minister pointed out that the historic reciprocal visits between the leaderships of the two countries have helped broaden cooperation to include trade and investment, infrastructure financing, energy, industrial localization, climate project financing, educational development, and support for Egypt's economic reform program.

He added that the Egyptian government is keen to build on the continuous progress in bilateral cooperation to further strengthen Egyptian-French economic relations. Rostom stressed that Egypt is working to expand cooperation with the private sector as a key pillar of Egypt Vision 2030, recognizing its vital role in driving development and economic growth.

This comes within broader efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, increase exports, attract investments, create jobs, and consolidate Egypt's position as a regional hub for industry and logistics services.
