Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, that green transformation and industrial decarbonization have become an economic and strategic necessity to strengthen the global competitiveness of Egyptian products, rather than merely an environmental objective.
Speaking during a forum organized by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Egypt to welcome a German trade delegation specializing in sustainable decarbonization technologies, Hashem said the ministry's updated industrial strategy prioritizes reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency and optimizing resource use.
He highlighted the launch of the industry solar initiative, which aims to install up to 1,000 megawatts of solar power capacity for factories over the next two years, while expanding renewable energy use and promoting energy service companies to improve industrial efficiency.
The minister also stressed Egypt's keenness to localize German technologies in renewable energy and green hydrogen, expanding industrial partnerships and supporting innovation, as the state targets increasing merchandise exports from $48 billion in 2025 to $100 billion by 2030.
