Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said the government aims to direct more public investments toward developing and maintaining health and education infrastructure across all governorates. In a statement on Saturday, May 30, 2026, Kouchouk said the Finance Ministry is working closely with the health and education ministries to deploy more effective programs aimed at upgrading public services.
He noted that the FY 2026/2027 budget allocates a 30% increase for the health sector and a 20% increase for education, compared with an overall expenditure growth of about 13.5%. The Minister said that EGP 47.5 billion has been earmarked for state-funded medical treatment, health insurance support, and medicines, marking an annual increase of 69%.
Additional allocations have also been provided to expand the comprehensive health insurance system in Minya Governorate. He added that EGP 90.5 billion has been allocated to the Unified Procurement Authority, up 25% year-on-year, to support the provision of medicines and medical supplies.
Kouchouk further noted that EGP 7.8 billion has been allocated for printing pre-university textbooks, alongside efforts to enhance maintenance and printing allocations.
