Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi said the government attaches great importance to supporting the overseas expansion of petroleum companies as part of the efforts to maximize the value added to the national economy, increase revenues generated abroad and make the best use of Egyptian skilled personnel.
During an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Badawi toured a worksite operated by Petrojet, the engineering and construction arm of Egypt's petroleum sector, where the company is carrying out a key infrastructure project at UAE oil fields. According to a Petroleum Ministry statement released on Thursday, July 2, 2026, the Minister reviewed the project's progress and met with teams from Egypt's Petrojet working on the WAVE C3A project, which the company is executing under an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a consortium comprising Abu Dhabi energy companies ADNOC and TAQA (Marafeq).
The project aims to transport and inject treated seawater into wells at the Bab and Bu Hasa oil fields as part of infrastructure projects designed to improve oil production efficiency. He added that continued investment in workforce development, equipment modernization, and wider adoption of digital technologies would strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian companies and reinforce their position as trusted regional partners in energy and infrastructure projects.
The Minister said that Petrojet's role in implementing the strategic UAE project reflected the confidence enjoyed by Egyptian petroleum companies in regional markets and demonstrated their technical expertise and execution capabilities. He praised the company's workforce for maintaining high standards of quality, safety and discipline, saying their performance represented a model of Egyptian professional expertise.
Badawi stated that Petrojet's success in executing national projects in Egypt, combined with its international expansion, has strengthened its position as a reliable partner in energy and infrastructure projects, giving the company a competitive edge based on quality, speed of delivery, and cost efficiency, while enhancing its prospects of securing further regional and international contracts.
