He noted that BRICS countries account for nearly 40 percent of global GDP, serving as a vital platform for expanding industrial and investment partnerships. The Minister made the remarks while participating in the BRICS Industry Ministers Meeting in Jaipur, held under India’s 2026 BRICS chairmanship, with senior officials and industrial representatives in attendance.
Hashem explained that Egypt’s industrial cooperation vision within BRICS rests on four main pillars: shifting from finished-goods trade to joint production and local value addition, supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises, accelerating digital industrial transformation and human resource development, and promoting sustainable industrial development and a green transition without burdening developing nations' industries.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a BRICS roadmap on photovoltaic industry cooperation—covering technology, manufacturing, finance, research, and capacity building—alongside supporting local renewable energy component manufacturing and expanding clean energy use in factories.
He added that Egypt seeks to convert its BRICS engagement into real investment opportunities in engineering, automotive components, electronics, renewable energy, machinery, and industrial AI to advance its national industrial strategy. Concluding his speech, Hashem voiced Egypt’s readiness to build ambitious, balanced industrial cooperation to position BRICS as a platform for joint production and amplify the Voice of the Global South.
The meeting also reviewed progress by the BRICS Centre for Industrial Competences and activities of the BRICS Innovation Centre in AI, smart manufacturing, and green transformation.
