Egypt's new Delta Regional Power Control Center is in its final stages of preparation ahead of its official inauguration, as the government presses ahead with efforts to modernize the national electricity grid and support the integration of renewable energy. Chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) Mona Rizk inspected on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the facility alongside officials from the company and a delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD), reviewing its technical and operational readiness before commissioning.
The center is one of EETC's strategic projects to upgrade the country's power transmission management system. Equipped with advanced monitoring and control technologies, it will oversee high and extra-high-voltage networks across the Nile Delta, improving operational efficiency, grid reliability and the quality of electricity supply.
Rizk said the project forms part of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy's plan to develop smart grid infrastructure capable of accommodating the rapid expansion of renewable energy projects. The visit also underscored Egypt's ongoing cooperation with the French Development Agency in supporting infrastructure development and enhancing the sustainability of the country's energy sector.
