Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Omar Radwan emphasized the importance of cooperation with the House of Representatives, describing it as a key partner in supporting a legislative and regulatory environment conducive to investment. Radwan noted that the development of the capital market requires the integration of roles across various state institutions in line with economic changes, in order to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian market.
This came during his meeting with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed el Wahsh, as part of efforts to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the EGX and the legislative institution, contributing to the development of the capital market and enhancing its role in serving the national economy.
The EGX chairman reviewed recent developments in the stock market, efforts to increase listings and trading activity, and measures aimed at enhancing transparency and governance, in addition to initiatives to expand the investor base and the number of listed companies.
For his part, the deputy speaker praised the role played by the EGX in supporting the national economy and providing effective financing channels for companies, affirming the Parliament’s keenness to maintain coordination and consultation with the Egyptian Exchange on issues related to the capital market, in a way that supports the investment climate and economic development plans.
The meeting also witnessed an exchange of views on a number of topics related to capital market development, including ways to promote financial and investment literacy and raise awareness of the stock exchange as a key driver of economic growth and investment attraction.
The meeting comes as part of the EGX’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with state institutions, supporting the development of the stock market and reinforcing its role as an effective platform for financing companies and achieving sustainable development.
