Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdalla held talks on Monday, June 15, 2026, with Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Fethi Zouhair Nouri to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two institutions. At the outset of the meeting, the Governor of the CBE praised deep-rooted historical ties and fraternal relations between Egypt and Tunisia.
He highlighted continued progress in bilateral relations across the various sectors, which contributes to advancing economic cooperation between the two countries. According to a statement issued by the CBE, the talks focused on enhancing cooperation between the two central banks across a wide range of areas under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions.
The agreement provides for the exchange of expertise and best practices, particularly in the fields of financial stability and monetary policy. The two sides also reviewed key regional and global economic and financial developments, as well as the efforts undertaken by both central banks to address current geopolitical challenges and strengthen the banking sector’s capacity to support development plans and promote sustainable economic growth.
At the end of the meeting, they underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination and consultation in the coming period in order to further strengthen bilateral relations and advance the shared interests of Egypt and Tunisia.
