The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, that the value of trade exchange between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) reached $461.6 million in 2025, compared with $679.1 million in 2024.

The announcement coincided with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's reception of Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on Wednesday, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest.

CAPMAS stated that Egyptian exports to DR Congo totaled $14.2 million in 2025, down from $17.2 million in 2024. Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from DR Congo amounted to $447.4 million in 2025, compared with $661.9 million in the previous year. The agency noted that Egypt’s main exports to DR Congo in 2025 included electrical machinery and equipment valued at $4.4 million, articles of iron and steel worth $1.9 million, processed fruit and vegetable products valued at $1.6 million, plastics and plastic products worth $1.2 million, and various other goods totaling $5.1 million.

Egypt’s principal imports from DR Congo during the same period consisted primarily of copper and copper products valued at $445.8 million, tin and tin products worth $1.3 million, and other miscellaneous goods valued at approximately $300,000. CAPMAS also reported that remittances from Egyptians working in DR Congo rose to $8 million during fiscal year 2024/2025, compared with $2.4 million in fiscal year 2023/2024.

In contrast, remittances from Congolese workers in Egypt increased to $1.5 million during fiscal year 2024/2025, up from $1.2 million in the previous fiscal year. Regarding investment flows, Congolese investments in Egypt surged to $3.4 million in fiscal year 2024/2025, compared with just $36,000 in fiscal year 2023/2024.

Egyptian investments in DR Congo, however, declined to $11.8 million in fiscal year 2024/2025 from $17.6 million a year earlier. CAPMAS added that Egypt’s population stood at 109.1 million in June 2026, while DR Congo’s population reached 116.2 million during the same period.

The agency further indicated that, according to estimates from the Egyptian mission, approximately 2,000 Egyptians were residing in DR Congo as of the end of 2024. Egypt advises citizens to postpone travel to Ebola-hit regions amid global alert
