The Cabinet, at its meeting on Wednesday August 26,2026 chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, approved a number of important decisions, including a draft decision to extend the implementation of Prime Minister’s Decision No. 982 of 2026, providing for remote work every Sunday for all employees of the entities and establishments covered by the decision, throughout September 2026.
The Cabinet also approved extending, for an additional six months effective July 22, 2026, the deadline for submitting applications to regularize the status of cases warranting the termination of contracts concluded by governorates and other authorities with jurisdiction over the relevant land, involving individuals, companies and associations that had been allocated land owned by the General Authority for Reconstruction and Agricultural Development Projects through sale transactions but had failed to meet their obligations to pay the installments due.
The Cabinet approved a partnership between the Urban Development Fund and Delta Capital for Real Estate Development to establish an integrated urban development project on “Al-Mostamra Land” in Mahalla al-Kubra, under a revenue-sharing partnership arrangement.
The Cabinet also approved the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization Authority’s contracting with an international company to design, equip and operate a 250-square-meter interactive exhibition hall at the museum. The hall will be located in currently unused spaces designated for future museum expansions and will operate under a joint-investment, revenue-sharing model, with the authority incurring no direct investment costs.
The approval is part of efforts to maximize investment returns and optimize the use of areas available for investment at archaeological sites and museums, thereby enhancing the tourism services provided at these sites and improving the visitor experience. The Cabinet also approved a proposal to introduce a number of new activities and services for the public through the Egypt Public Library and its branches, as part of efforts to expand access to advanced library services in their various forms and types, raise cultural and civilizational awareness, and facilitate access to intellectual and knowledge-based works.
The Cabinet approved authorizing the Alexandria Port Authority to proceed with contracting procedures with a company to grant it a usufruct license for a plot of land at Gargoub Port, covering approximately 200,000 square meters. The site will be used to receive, load, unload and manufacture metal units used in advanced industrial activities and re-export them.
The approval comes as part of Egypt’s efforts to develop its integrated transport and logistics system, in line with presidential directives aimed at transforming Egypt into a global trade and logistics hub. The Cabinet approved the decisions and recommendations issued by the Ministerial Engineering Committee at its meeting held on July 28, 2026, concerning assignment orders awarded to a number of companies to implement 26 projects for the Ministries of Housing and Transport, as well as Port Said Governorate.
The Cabinet also approved the decisions and recommendations issued by the Ministerial Engineering Committee at its July 28, 2026 meeting concerning increases to assignment orders for a number of companies to complete 31 projects for the Ministries of Housing, Transport and Awqaf.
