Shipping, container handling and cargo operations at the Alexandria Port Authority recorded strong activity over the past 24 hours. Alexandria Port spokesman Ahmed Bureiqa said that the port received 11 vessels and witnessed the departure of seven others during the reporting period, while all operational and technical departments maintained normal operations.
A total of 42 vessels were berthed at the port's quays, reflecting the efficiency of port operations and the smooth movement of ships in line with scheduled maritime timetables. Bureiqa highlighted ongoing coordination among all entities operating at the port to accelerate loading and unloading operations and reduce vessel waiting times, thereby enhancing the port's competitiveness and improving the quality of services provided to international shipping lines.
Regarding cargo handling at Alexandria and Dekheila ports, he said nearly 167,000 tons of various goods and strategic commodities were handled over the past 24 hours, including about 28,000 tons of exports and 139,000 tons of imports. A total of 8,402 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers were also handled, comprising 3,184 import containers, 2,206 export containers and 3,012 transit containers.
The figures reflect the diversity of container traffic and underscore the port's position as a key regional logistics hub serving international trade. The two ports also recorded the entry of 5,847 trucks and the departure of 5,235 others, bringing the total truck movements to 11,082 over the 24-hour period.
The Alexandria Port Authority said it continues to enhance operational efficiency by making optimal use of available resources and adopting the latest technological systems in port management to improve the speed and accuracy of operations.
