Egypt’s Alexandria Port Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chinese group Xiamen C&D to develop a specialized dry bulk terminal at Al Max Port in Alexandria, targeting improved logistics for industrial raw materials and finished products.
The terminal is the first of four planned at Al Max Port. The proposed development includes two berths for large cargo vessels, expanded storage yards, silos, modern cargo-handling equipment and improved connections with the national railway network. Egypt’s Ministry of Transport said the project aims to reduce supply chain costs, improve cargo movement and strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, particularly in the steel, cement and heavy industries.
The development also forms part of the government’s broader plan to expand port capacity and integrate maritime, rail and road transport.
