Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk opened on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the 38th edition of the Sahara International Agricultural Exhibition 2026 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center. The exhibition was opened in the presence of Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam and representatives of local and international companies.
The ministers and officials toured the exhibition pavilions, reviewing the latest technologies and innovations in agricultural mechanization and irrigation systems and discussing investment and partnership opportunities with participating companies. Farouk said the Sahara exhibition is an important platform for agricultural and investment cooperation, bringing together policymakers, experts and investors and supporting sustainable agricultural development.
He said specialized exhibitions help transfer modern technologies, promote trade and investment, facilitate knowledge exchange and build strategic partnerships, while introducing farmers and producers to innovations in agricultural machinery, modern irrigation, seeds and plant protection.
Farouk stressed that agriculture remains a key pillar of Egypt’s food security and national economy, noting recent efforts to improve the agricultural investment climate through infrastructure development and incentives for private-sector investment. He said the ministry’s strategy focuses on expanding cultivated areas through land reclamation, raising crop productivity, improving water-use efficiency through modern technologies and strengthening agricultural value chains to enhance product quality and competitiveness in global markets.
The minister said about 550 companies and brands from 30 countries are participating in the exhibition, underscoring its growing regional and international role as a hub for agricultural trade and investment in the Middle East and Africa. The exhibition also features specialized conferences and technical sessions, along with initiatives supporting agricultural innovation, startups and rural women’s empowerment.
Farouk invited investors to capitalize on the promising opportunities offered by Egypt’s agricultural sector and thanked the organizers and participating companies.
